Along with contributing to and educating our community, Pilot Club members love being members of the community and participating in community events.
Each year, the Pilot Club of Canyon Lake enters a float into the Christmas (http://www.hillcountrycurrent.com/calendar/event/1486/canyon-lake-christmas-parade/) and 4th of July (http://www.canyonlakeviews.com/Jul12/clv0712.pdf, page 4) community parades (link to pictures of last year’s parades). We also participate as a group in the 9/11 Freedom Walk (http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/canyon/Images/Images.asp) across the dam: an annual event at Canyon Dam to commemorate, honor and remember those that died on 9/11 and those who continue to sacrifice everything to keep our freedoms.
In addition to our annual community events, we participate in special community initiatives: most recently, Pilots joined CISD (Comal Independent School District), Tye Preston Memorial Library and other local organizations in the Canyon Lake Community Coalition to bring Rachel’s Challenge to Canyon Lake. Pilots created our own “chain of kindness” to add to those of local schools and other community groups at the May 5, 2012 Rachel’s Challenge Rally. This is the "chain reaction" we hope to promote in Canyon Lake; to inspire students, parents, teachers, and community members to put a little more kindness into their day, for each person they meet.
