April 16,1970 Received charter as The Pilot Club of Comal County
Spring of 1970
  • Raised money to send Club president to Pilot International Convention
  • Provided supplies to San Marcos flood victims
  • Paid utility bills for local family who lost their income due to illness of breadwinner
Fall, 1971 Club voted to start a community library
Spring,1972 Received recognition from Texas District and Pilot International as club for having the largest increase in membership
May, 1972 Grand opening of the Pilot Community Library`
Summer, 1973 Begin working on projects for residents of Oak Crest Nursing Home
1974 Harry Preston donated land in memory of his mother, and the library would become the Tye Preston Memorial Library
1975
  • In order to qualify for grant money to expand the library, the Pilot Club gave the library to the community
  • Received permission to change club’s name to The Pilot Club of Canyon Lake
  • Received recognition from Pilot International for having largest percentage of membership increase
November 12, 1975 Pilot Club of Canyon Lake incorporated with the Texas Secretary of State
1975-Present Two of the founding members are still active in our Club; we currently have 57 members; we raise thousands of dollars each year to give to local charities; and we are well-respected in our community.
